Businesses in the soon-to-be-former Elk Grove Woods Plaza, which will become The Vue at Arlington Heights and Higgins roads, have announced plans to close within the coming weeks so they can reopen in newly built retail spaces next door.
Among those preparing to move are Jarosch Bakery, 7 Mile Cycle, Vini’s Pizza, and Tensuke Market, Mayor Craig Johnson said.
The mayor said he has spoken with Jarosch, 7 Mile Cycle, and Vini’s officials, all who told him they expect to reopen in the new Vue retail buildings at Arlington Heights and Higgins in early February.

Jarosch said on their Facebook page that Saturday, Jan. 17, would be their last day in the old location before reopening in the new space around Friday, Feb. 6.
The village purchased Elk Grove Woods Plaza for $17.5 million. After a public request for proposals process, Wingspan Development Group was chosen to build the space into a mixed-use residential and retail development. Wingspan paid the village $17.5 million for the property.
In scheduling construction, village officials wanted to see as little disruption to businesses as possible. Construction first saw new retail built on the north side of the property, allowing businesses on the south end to continue operating. A gas station and a bank on the north and center of the shopping center were purchased and demolished.
Once retailers have all made their moves and are open for business on the north end of the development, Wingspan will raze the former retail spaces on the south end and begin building a large luxury apartment complex where those once stood.
Johnson said good progress is also being made on a pedestrian bridge from The Vue over Arlington Heights Road into Busse Woods.
He said retailers are both moving old equipment into the new spaces and buying new equipment, causing a longer transition period than originally predicted.
