Goodwill launches free program to advance IT career development for students

On Monday, March 31, Goodwill Industries of the Upstate & Midlands launched its Tech Academy program.Goodwill describes it as “an innovative training program aimed at equipping participants with essential skills to excel in the rapidly evolving field of information technology. This comprehensive FREE training initiative is designed to empower and equip a new generation of professionals with the knowledge and proficiency needed to succeed in the growing fields of IT support and cybersecurity.”The free program has 17 inaugural participants who are taking classes at two locations: one in the Upstate and the other in the Midlands.Classes are three hours a day, four days a week, over the course of 20 weeks.Goodwill also said participants will gain in-depth knowledge and proficiency in IT support and fundamentals, tools and strategies to safeguard digital landscapes, which will open doors to dynamic career possibilities in the IT industry. Participants will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA IT Fundamentals.
