Australian management consultancy Nous Group has opened another new office abroad in Vancouver, marking the firm’s second in Canada alongside Toronto and ninth location overall.
Nous entered the Canadian market in 2019 – twenty years on from its Australian foundation – and has since then been serving clients across the country from its base in Toronto. However, growing local demand for the firm’s services will now see Nous Group assemble a team of consultants to staff its newly-launched outlet in Vancouver.
“Our Toronto team has been working with clients coast-to-coast since 2019, but over the last twelve months demand for our specialist healthcare and higher education expertise has grown exponentially,” stated founder and CEO Tim Orton. “We’re excited to further invest in our capacity to meet that demand while expanding our physical presence across the country.”
The new office will be led by Ray Messom, who returned to Canada last year to head up Nous’ national health & ageing practice after more than a decade in senior healthcare leadership roles in Australia – a position which has seen him working with clients in the western provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. Messon is joined by Nathalie Mejia, who joined the firm as a director from Deloitte towards the end of last year.
“Since relocating to Vancouver a year ago, I have been overwhelmed with the response from the market,” Messom stated. “The key issues we’re seeing Canadian clients grapple with are not always uniquely Canadian. More often than not there are lessons to be learned and insights to be adapted from the experience of operators and policy makers in other Commonwealth countries.”
According to Messom, these close societal similarities between the original Commonwealth nations of the so-called ‘Anglosphere’ – the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, where Nous focuses its operations – are a key factor in driving local demand for the firm’s proven expertise.
Nous opened its first international office in London in 2015, and now has nine locations in total, including Australian branches in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and its most recent local addition in Darwin, which altogether house a globally-connected team of more than 750 consultants. Nous Group said the Vancouver office would combine this broad reach with a “uniquely West Coast approach.”
