Ag in Motion, Western Canada’s largest outdoor farm expo, has been recognized nationally after taking home Business Event of the Year at the Canadian Tourism Awards on November 21. The award, presented by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, highlights the event’s deep community impact, agricultural leadership, and its role as a premier gathering place for farmers and ag professionals from across Canada and beyond.
Rob O’Connor, Show Director for Ag in Motion, accepted the award, noting the collective effort behind the event’s growth.
“I was proud to accept the award on behalf of everyone who has helped shape Ag in Motion into an event that brings the agriculture community together,” he said.
Since launching in 2015, Ag in Motion has rapidly expanded in scale and influence. The annual three-day event now draws more than 30,000 attendees and 550 exhibitors, transforming a site just outside Saskatoon into a dynamic hub for hands-on demos, equipment showcases, and knowledge-sharing.
Organizers say the show’s success is rooted in more than its size. Strong community ties and strategic partnerships, including support from Tourism Saskatchewan, have helped elevate Ag in Motion’s profile both nationally and internationally.
“We are grateful for our collaboration with our community partners and the team at Tourism Saskatchewan, among others, who help put Ag in Motion on the map,” O’Connor said. “Our local, national, and international footprint gets stronger every year. There’s always something exciting and new to showcase at Ag in Motion.”
The expo has become known for its live field demonstrations, education sessions, and interactive exhibits, providing farmers and agribusiness leaders with practical insights and opportunities to engage directly with new technologies. Organizers emphasize that the event is designed not just for professionals but for families and rural communities who want to connect, learn, and celebrate innovation in agriculture.
The Canadian Tourism Awards recognize organizations across the country that deliver exceptional visitor experiences and demonstrate leadership in their fields. Ag in Motion’s win underscores the event’s growing influence and its contributions to both tourism and agriculture.
The Ag in Motion team expressed gratitude to the staff, volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, and community members who continue to support the show’s evolution. Their work is showcased in the documentary series “Welcome to the Farm Show,” produced by The Western Producer, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people and passion that drive the event each year.
With its latest national recognition, Ag in Motion is poised to continue expanding its reach, and its impact, within Canada’s agricultural landscape.
